Two capitals an hour apart on the Danube. East on the A4 past Vienna Airport, onto the A6 and across the Slovak border into Bratislava — a private car from your Vienna hotel, address or the airport terminal to your door in Bratislava.
Drive from Vienna to Bratislava in about an hour. Private transfer priced on request per vehicle, door-to-door — from a Vienna address or straight from Vienna Airport, which lies on the Bratislava side of the city, with an optional stop at Carnuntum or Hainburg on the Danube road.
Pickup anywhere in Vienna. The A23 leads out of the city to the A4 Ost Autobahn, which passes Vienna Airport at Schwechat — already part of the way to Bratislava.
The remains of the Roman city of Carnuntum lie at Petronell on the B9 Danube road. Taking that road instead of the motorway means fewer kilometres but a slower drive; add time for the site itself.
A Danube town on the B9, shortly before the road crosses into Petržalka in Bratislava. It combines easily with Carnuntum.
If you stay on the motorway, the outlet centre sits at the junction where the A4 meets the A6 towards Slovakia.
The A6 becomes the Slovak D4 at a Schengen-internal motorway crossing. Police checks or temporary border controls may occur, so keep a passport or national ID card at hand.
The D2 and D1 bring you across the Danube on the Most SNP bridge into the city. Drop-off at your hotel or address, or at Bratislava Airport (BTS) north-east of the centre.
Per vehicle, not per person. Every quote includes tolls, fuel, the cross-border route, assistance with loading and unloading luggage, and child seats available on request.

Vienna Airport (VIE) lies between the two cities. From the terminal to central Bratislava is about 65 km and roughly 50 minutes of driving — less than from central Vienna — so you can go straight from arrivals without entering Vienna at all. Mention the airport pickup and your flight number in your request. Airport pickups include 60 minutes of free waiting.
From Bratislava we also drive on to Budapest, about 200 km down the Hungarian M1.
Heading the other way? Bratislava to Vienna covers the trip into Austria and to Vienna Airport.
Bratislava → Vienna →By motorway, Vienna to Bratislava is about 80 km. From the centre of Vienna the A23 and the A4 Ost Autobahn run east past Schwechat and Vienna Airport to the junction near Bruck an der Leitha and Parndorf, where the A6 Nordost Autobahn turns off to the Slovak border at Kittsee/Jarovce. The D4, D2 and D1 then carry you into Bratislava over the Most SNP bridge. Allow about an hour without stops. The B9 along the Danube, via Petronell-Carnuntum and Hainburg, is shorter on the map but slower.
Direct trains run between Vienna and Bratislava, and coach journeys operate between the two cities; check the current timetable before travelling. In season a fast boat also runs on the Danube from Vienna to Bratislava — check the current boat timetable. A private transfer is the option when you have luggage, when you are coming straight off a flight at Vienna Airport, or when you want to stop at Carnuntum or Hainburg on the way.
Austria and Slovakia are both in the Schengen area, so this is an internal border. Police checks or temporary border controls may occur when you cross. Every passenger should carry a valid passport or national ID card, and it is wise to allow some flexibility in journey time.
