From the Venetian lagoon to the Gulf of Trieste in a little under two hours. Over the Ponte della Libertà, round Mestre and east along the A4 through Friuli to the coast — a private car from Piazzale Roma, a Mestre hotel, Marco Polo Airport or your cruise berth to your door in Trieste.
Drive from Venice to Trieste in about 1h 55m. Private transfer priced on request per vehicle, door-to-door — tell us where we meet you (Piazzale Roma, Tronchetto, a Mestre address, Marco Polo Airport or the cruise terminal), where you are staying in Trieste, and whether you would like to stop at Palmanova or Miramare Castle on the way.
No car can drive into the historic centre, so we meet you where the road ends: at Piazzale Roma, across the Grand Canal from Santa Lucia station, or at Tronchetto, linked to it by the People Mover. Hotels and addresses in Mestre are collected at the door. The route crosses the Ponte della Libertà and takes the A57 round Mestre to the A4.
The star-shaped fortress town lies a short way off the A4 in Friuli. A walk round its central square costs about 10 minutes of extra driving plus the time you spend there.
Instead of the fast link road, the last stretch can follow the coast road past Miramare Castle on its promontory above the gulf. About 10 minutes of extra driving; add time for the castle and its park.
The A4 hands over to the RA13 link road and drops down into the city. Drop-off at your hotel or address in Trieste, at the Stazione Marittima cruise terminal on the waterfront, at Trieste Centrale station, or at Trieste Airport (TRS) if you are flying on.
Per vehicle, not per person. Every quote includes tolls, fuel, assistance with loading and unloading luggage, and child seats available on request.

Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) is about 15 km from Piazzale Roma on the mainland side of the lagoon, and already on the way east. From the airport straight to Trieste is about 148 km and roughly 1h 45m, so there is no need to go to the lagoon first — mention the airport pickup and your flight number in your request. Airport pickups include 60 minutes of free waiting.
From Trieste we also drive across the border to Ljubljana, down the Istrian coast to Rovinj and on to Zagreb.
Heading to the lagoon instead? Trieste to Venice has its own page, with drop-offs at Piazzale Roma, Mestre, the airport or your ship.
Trieste → Venice →Venice to Trieste is about 160 km by road, almost all of it on one motorway. Venice to Trieste is a domestic journey inside Italy. The whole drive stays on Italian roads, so there is no border crossing between the two cities.
