About the Mostar to Zagreb transfer

Mostar to Zagreb is the longest north-south Bosnia–Croatia transfer — 400 km, one border crossing at Stara Gradiška, about 5h 30m direct or 7–8 hours with the classic Travnik + Jajce stops. Most bookings are one-way transfers continuing a Balkan itinerary toward Central Europe, or connecting to flights out of Zagreb Airport (ZAG / Franjo Tuđman).

The route itself

Your driver leaves Mostar north along the Neretva canyon to Sarajevo’s edge, then turns west on the Lašva valley road through Central Bosnia’s historic Ottoman-era towns. Travnik (Ottoman vizier capital 90 km from Mostar) and Jajce (medieval royal capital with the 22-metre urban Pliva waterfall) are the two big stops. From Jajce the road continues north through Banja Luka region to the Croatian border at Stara Gradiška on the Sava river. Once on the A3 motorway it’s a 100 km straight run east to Zagreb.

Optional stops that make this a journey

Travnik for the hilltop fortress, blue-tiled Šarena Džamija (Coloured Mosque), and birthplace museum of Nobel laureate Ivo Andrić (30–60 min). Jajce for the waterfall in the town centre, the fortress above, and the underground catacombs (45 min to 2 hours). Banja Luka for Kastel Fortress and the rebuilt Ferhadija Mosque (1 hour detour if passing through). Most guests pick one or two — all three plus the driving makes the day 9 hours.

Arrival in Zagreb

Zagreb is Croatia’s Austro-Hungarian capital — Upper Town (Gornji Grad) with St Mark’s Church and Lotrščak Tower, Lower Town with Ban Jelačić Square and the Dolac market, and institutions like Mimara Museum and the Museum of Broken Relationships. Our driver drops at any address including Zagreb Airport (ZAG) 17 km southeast of centre. For onward travel: Ljubljana 140 km west, Budapest 350 km east, Vienna 380 km north.
