The great tiered falls of Skradinski Buk, an hour from Split — boardwalks over rushing turquoise water, a river-island monastery, and none of Plitvice's distance. A private driver, all day.
A private round-trip from Split with your driver waiting — from €180 per vehicle, door-to-door. Fuel and an English-speaking driver included; park entry is paid on the day.
It's about an hour inland from Split to Krka National Park. The star is Skradinski Buk — a wide, multi-tiered set of travertine waterfalls that tumble in curtains into a broad pool, circled by an easy boardwalk loop (about 2 km) through the forest and over the water. It's one of the most beautiful and accessible waterfall walks in Croatia.
From the riverside village of Skradin you can take a national-park boat up to the falls, and longer boat trips run to the island monastery of Visovac and the Roški Slap falls upstream. Krka is closer and quicker than Plitvice, which makes it the easy waterfall day from Split.
Because it's private, you go at your own pace and start early to beat the coaches. Your driver waits and brings you back to Split door-to-door — and can add a stop in Šibenik or at a winery on the way.

Krka is much closer (about 1 hour vs 2.5–3 for Plitvice) and centres on one spectacular set of falls with an easy loop — the better choice if you want a half-day. Plitvice is bigger, further and a full day.
Swimming at Skradinski Buk has been restricted in recent years — check the current rules when you go. Come for the waterfalls and the walk rather than a swim.
About an hour each way, and 5–6 hours for the full day with the boardwalk loop and a boat. It's private, so you set the pace.
From €180 sedan, €216 minivan — round-trip with waiting, door-to-door.
