Tirana → Himarë →The journey from Himarë back to Tirana is about 215 km. It begins on the coastal SH8 heading north, crosses the Llogara area to the Dukat valley, then runs past Orikum and around the bay into Vlorë. From there the A2 motorway leads to Fier, the SH4 continues north through Lushnjë and Rrogozhinë, and the route passes Durrës on its bypass before the SH2 brings you east into the capital. Plan on about 3h 40m of driving without stops.
Direct coaches operate from the coast towards Tirana on the Sarandë–Tirana line that serves Himarë; check the current timetable for departures from Himarë before travelling. A private transfer collects you at your accommodation rather than at the roadside stop, keeps your luggage with you all the way, and can take you directly to Tirana Airport.
Between Himarë and Dukat the road crosses the Llogara area. The Llogara Tunnel opened in July 2024, and there is also the old road over the pass with its viewpoint above the coast. Which way the drive goes on the day depends on the roads at the time; if you want the viewpoint, ask us and it can be added where the old road is open.
Himarë and Tirana are both in Albania, so the drive involves no international crossing at all.
