Going back to the capital? Zlatibor to Belgrade covers the drive down from the mountain.

Zlatibor → Belgrade →

Belgrade to Zlatibor — what to expect

Zlatibor lies in western Serbia, about 220 km from Belgrade by road. Most of the way is on the Miloš Veliki motorway (A2), which leaves Belgrade past Surčin and Obrenovac and runs south towards Čačak and Požega. From Požega the road continues to Užice and then climbs over the Zlatibor pass to the resort town. Allow about 3h 10m of driving without stops.

Private transfer vs train and bus

Direct coaches operate from Belgrade bus station to Zlatibor; check the current timetable before travelling. There is no direct train: by rail you would go as far as Užice and continue by road. A private transfer collects you at your door or at the airport and drops you at your hotel in Zlatibor, with room for luggage and ski or hiking gear and a break wherever you want it.

Mountain road in winter

The last part of the route is a mountain road, and the Zlatibor pass is one of the critical points in Serbia’s winter road plan. Snow and ice are possible from November to March and earlier at altitude, so check road conditions before travel and allow flexibility in journey time.

No border on this route

Belgrade to Zlatibor is a domestic journey inside Serbia, so there is no international crossing on the way.

Pickup and drop-off

We pick up from hotels and addresses across Belgrade and from Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport (BEG). Airport pickups include 60 minutes of free waiting, address pickups 15 minutes, and child seats are free on request. In Zlatibor we drop off at your hotel, apartment or address.

Stops worth adding

  • Čačak — off the A2 at Preljina, about 16 min extra driving plus your break
  • Užice — on the route, about 1 min extra driving into the centre
  • Sirogojno and Stopića Cave — near Zlatibor rather than on the way; easier as an outing once you are there
💡 Tip: Travelling between November and March? The Zlatibor pass is one of the mountain sections Serbia’s road authority watches closely in winter, so allow extra time and check road conditions before you set off.
