Belgrade to Mokra Gora — what to expect

Mokra Gora lies in western Serbia, about 243 km from Belgrade by road. Most of the drive is on the Miloš Veliki motorway (A2) towards Čačak and Požega; the road then runs through Užice and Kremna and over the Šargan pass to Mokra Gora. The direct route does not go via Zlatibor. Allow about 3h 30m of driving without stops.

Private transfer vs train and bus

There is no direct bus from Belgrade to Mokra Gora: public transport needs a change, for example in Zlatibor or Užice. There is no direct train either. The Šargan Eight heritage railway “Nostalgija” runs from Mokra Gora itself; check the current season with Serbian Railways. A private transfer takes you in one vehicle from your door in Belgrade to Drvengrad or the station.

Mountain roads in winter

The Šargan pass and the Kremna section are critical points in Serbia’s winter road plan. Snow and ice are possible from November to March and earlier at altitude, so check road conditions before travel and allow flexibility in journey time.

No border on this route

Belgrade to Mokra Gora is a domestic journey inside Serbia. There is no international crossing on this route.

Pickup and drop-off

We pick up from hotels and addresses in Belgrade and from Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport (BEG). Airport pickups include 60 minutes of free waiting, address pickups 15 minutes, and child seats are free on request. At Mokra Gora we drop off at Drvengrad, at the station or at your accommodation.

Stops worth adding

  • Užice — on the route, about 1 min extra driving into the centre
  • Kremna — on the road to the Šargan pass, about 6 min extra driving
  • Čačak — off the A2 at Preljina, about 16 min extra driving
  • Zlatibor — routing through the resort town adds about 24 min of driving
💡 Tip: Coming for the Šargan Eight heritage railway “Nostalgija”? It runs from Mokra Gora, but its season and timetable change, so check the current season with Serbian Railways first and tell us the time you need to be at the station.
