Things to Know

TIV → Mostar — practical notes

The inland route through Trebinje is preferred over the coastal Croatia option — it's the same drive time but only one border crossing instead of two. Trebinje is increasingly known for wine: Vukoje, Tvrdoš and Anđelić cellars all welcome visitors with prior notice.

FAQ

TIV to Mostar questions

How many borders do we cross?

+

One — at Vraćenovići/Vilusi between Montenegro and Bosnia. We handle paperwork; you stay in the car. Typical wait is 5–15 minutes.

Is this a common request from cruise passengers?

+

Yes — Tivat-arriving cruise guests with a free overnight often combine this with a Mostar day stop. Tell us if your timing is tight.

Can we stop at Trebinje for lunch?

+

Strongly recommended — Trebinje is quieter than Mostar and serves some of the best food in the region. Add 90 minutes for a proper sit-down lunch.

Should we go via the coast instead?

+

The coastal route through Croatia adds a second border crossing (Montenegro → Croatia → Bosnia) and is the same drive time. We default to the inland Trebinje route unless you specifically want the coast.
