The two towns face each other across the mouth of Boka Kotorska; driving round the inner bay through Perast and Risan is more than twice the distance and close to an hour longer.
The route runs south from Tivat to the slip at Lepetane and crosses the Verige narrows to Kamenari, then follows the shore west. The crossing takes about ten minutes, the ferry runs through the night, and the fare is included in your price. In peak summer there can be a short queue at the slip, which we allow for in the pickup time.
Because Tivat Airport is five minutes from the pickup point, this is mostly an arrivals transfer — TIV is the nearest airport to Herceg Novi and the ferry makes it the quickest way across. We track the flight and wait if it is late.
Herceg Novi rises in terraces from the water: Forte Mare on the seafront, the Kanli Kula fortress above the Old Town, and the Savina Monastery among cypress to the east. Igalo, immediately west, is the old spa quarter. The gradient is real, so the exact address matters when we plan the drop.
