A spectacular 25-metre wide cascade on the Trebižat river, often called 'Bosnia's mini Niagara'. Swim in the natural pool beneath the falls in summer, or simply enjoy the thundering water and mist from the viewing platforms.
Kravica is Bosnia & Herzegovina's most popular natural attraction — a 25-metre horseshoe waterfall on the Trebižat river where you can swim right up to the cascade in summer. From Mostar it's a 54 km drive south through the karst country of southern Herzegovina, mostly on the M6 road towards Ljubuški. Door-to-door from a Mostar hotel to Kravica's parking is about 40 minutes one way.
Most of our guests do this as a half-day round trip from Mostar — about 4 to 5 hours total. That covers pickup, the drive each way, and 2 hours at the falls (enough for the path down, a swim, and the walk back up). If you want to make a fuller day, we can add Počitelj on the way back — a medieval Ottoman fortress village 25 minutes from Kravica that's the natural pairing with the waterfall.
For everything about Kravica itself — entry fees, swimming, the walk down, what's at the site, when not to go — see our detailed Kravica Waterfalls visitor guide. This page covers the transfer logistics: route, pricing, alternatives, and how to plan the day from Mostar.
The 54 km route runs south from Mostar on the M6 road through Buna, Hrasno, and Ljubuški before turning off onto a paved local road for the final 5 km to the Kravica entrance. The drive is mostly through the karst plain of southern Herzegovina — vineyards, scattered villages, and limestone hills — with several Ottoman-era stone bridges visible from the road.
There are no border crossings on this route — both Mostar and Kravica are in Bosnia & Herzegovina. The road is paved throughout and well-maintained. In summer (especially weekends) the final 2 km approach to Kravica can be slow with parking traffic; we've planned the timing around that.
If you're combining with Počitelj, the route changes slightly: instead of returning the same way, we loop back via Čapljina and the M17 road, with the Počitelj stop. That adds about 25 minutes total drive time but lets you see two of southern Herzegovina's best stops in one day without doubling back.
Kravica alone is a half-day. With drive time and 2 hours at the falls, you're looking at about 5 hours door-to-door from Mostar. That's perfect if you want morning swimming and an afternoon back in Mostar to walk Stari Most and Baščaršija old town.

2–3 hours covers the walk down, swimming, and the walk back up. We typically build 2 hours of waiting time at Kravica into the round-trip price. Add an hour if you want to eat at the restaurant or visit the upstream Kravica 2 falls.
Yes — Počitelj is the most popular add-on. It's 25 minutes from Kravica on the return route via Čapljina, adds about 1.5 hours to the day total (including a meal stop), and gives you a medieval Ottoman fortress village to balance the natural waterfall. No extra transfer cost.
Yes, from May to September. The water is cold (river-fed, around 15°C) but refreshing in summer heat. You can swim right up to the base of the falls. Bring a towel and water shoes — the rocks are slippery.
No. Both Mostar and Kravica are in Bosnia & Herzegovina. The 54 km drive is entirely within the country.
Group tours are €30–40 per person, depart at fixed times, share a 50-seat bus, and give you a fixed 1-hour stop. A private transfer is per vehicle (from €125 sedan / €150 minivan, round-trip with waiting), departs when you want, no other passengers, and gives you as long at the falls as you need. For 2–4 people it works out similar in cost per head with much more flexibility.
