The southern tip of the Albanian Riviera — white beaches, the islets off Ksamil and the ruins of Butrint next door. Leaving is the long part: we take you north along the Riviera to Tirana, or over the border to Montenegro, in one door-to-door drive.
Ksamil is a small resort village at the far south of the Albanian Riviera, 15 km south of Sarandë and next to Butrint, the UNESCO-listed ancient city. It is beautiful and it is remote: there is no railway, the coastal road is the only way north, and every onward journey is a long one.
Tirana is 262 km and about 4h 25m away. The road runs north through Sarandë and Himarë, climbs the Llogara Pass above the Riviera, drops to Vlorë and joins the motorway to the capital. No border, but a full day’s drive, and one of the most scenic in Albania.
Montenegro is further still: Budva is 416 km, about 7h 47m, continuing past Tirana and Shkodër to the Sukobin/Muriqan border. Guests doing the Riviera-to-Riviera trip in one go book this as a single transfer with a lunch stop rather than changing buses three times.
